I felt this weight of oppression in the room. Have you been there?
Anyway, I had a great idea (one of those light bulb moments). What if we made doing laundry fun? What if it was an event people looked forward to? What if it was a communal thing where friends could talk and hang out and people that don't know each other could become close? What if we met up there at the same time and brought extra change and extra detergent and paid for each others clothes? What if there was music and instruments and laughter? What if we took oppression and threw it in with the dirty clothes?
Are you still following me?
So I did what I always do when I have an awesome idea. First, I call my fiance and talk 90 miles per hour and tell her. She is an encourager so she encourages me and is down for going. Second, I call Chris and do the same thing, He usually brings me back to earth because he is much more logical than I am. I think he was just as excited as I was this time. Third, I procrastinate and put it off because I'm busy or whatever excuse I can find.
Well, it's going down! Monday August 24 at 6pm we are meeting at the Laundry Mat on Ouida St. Bring extra change and extra detergent if you got it! If you don't, then don't worry, we'll wash your clothes for you. If you play a handy instrument, the BRING IT! We're gonna party and you can't do that with out some music! Also, if you speak spanish or know someone that does, BRING THEM. I can't and there are many people there that don't speak english.
Let's share some love with these people and have a party in the face of the mundane, in the face of oppression.
Oh yeah, and if your one of "those" people that own there own washer, yeah you know who you are;) then WHO CARES?! Come anyway. Bring some dirty clothes and we'll still party. You may have a washer but do you got a bunch of friends and music playing around it like we do? Maybe you do, in that case, lets all go to your house. haha.
If you have any questions or comments the bring it! :) 334.379.9935
